We are looking for a seasoned Scrum Master to lead the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) scrum as part of the Data and Analytics team for our client.  The EDW scrum supports a variety of projects and programs, including identified production level defects that require work from the team.   The Scrum Master will facilitate a team that is largely US based, although a component of a global technology operation.
Essential Duties: 

  • Doing everything possible to best meet the needs of customers or teams that rely on EDW team outputs
  • Guiding the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to meet the needs of customer or other teams
  • Guiding the team on how to get the most out  of self-organization
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
  • Lead the maintenance and updating of team status within the tools and reporting processes of the organization.

Required Skills/Experience 

  • First level Scrum Master certification (CSM)
  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for executing projects using the Scrum approach(example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc)

Preferred Skills/Experience  

  • PMP Certification
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Applicable knowledge of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) database usage and especially in data warehousing
  • Team Lead experience in application development with demonstrated delivery success across multiple projects
  • Bachelors degree in Business or Computer Science, Graduate degree a plus
